National Academy of Sciences Building
2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20418

Research Universities and the Future of America: Ten Breakthrough Actions Vital to Our Nation's Prosperity and Security, a major report released last year by the National Research Council, warns that America's world-class research institutions are in danger of serious decline and identifies actions needed to strengthen these valuable national assets. Since the report's release, leaders in academia, the business community, and government have held a series of nine regional meetings to discuss how to implement the report's recommendations and maintain top-notch research universities across the country.

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, the Board on Higher Education and Workforce will host, "Research Universities and the Future of America: A National Convocation." The agenda will feature discussion of the major themes and key messages that emerged from the regional meetings and will identify top priorities for strengthening U.S. research institutions in the coming months and years.
